Northgate Medical Practice
We are the largest medical practice in the city, with parking facilities, good disabled access and convenient local pharmacy on site. We provide a full range of medical services and specialist clinics with advance booking of appointments, urgent care clinics and late evening surgeries.
We can now offer full registration of patient online services, please contact us for further information and details of how to register with the online registration process.
We currently serve over 20,000 patients in the Canterbury locality. We have eight Partners, four salaried GP's, Dr Debbie Hancock, Dr. Le May, Dr. Peters and Dr Sean Hughes. We also have a Nurse Practitioner, Mr Phil Shaba, a Clinical Pharmacist, Mr Keith Howell and a Paramedic Practitioner, Mike Earl. To support these clinicians, we have a team of expert Primary Care Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, and a phlebotomist.
We provide all of the normal health care services that you would expect from a GP practice with the addition to many Enhanced Services such as 24 hour BPs, 24 hour ECGs and Anticoagulation Clinics (Warfarin).
We are also providers of Primary Care Clinics for Ear Nose and Throat, Ophthalmology, Dermatology and Minor surgery services and providers of local Physiotherapy and Audiology Services.
LATEST PRACTICE NEWS 
In a bid to improve access to primary care services to patients, the Government have released funds to assist us to provide Improved Access to these services from 8 am to 8 pm during the week and extra cover over the weekend and on bank holidays.
For you, our registered patients, many of these services are available at the Northgate Medical Practice site, however some services may be provided at other local GP practices in the city.
Primary Care services may include, Practice Nurses, Physiotherapists, OneYou Advisers and GPs. Please ask at Reception for further details and availability of these appointments.
The Bank holiday primary care provision and that on a Sunday, may be provided out of the Canterbury locality area, for example, in Whitstable or Faversham.

We have teamed up with The Young Dementia Network to undertake a data gathering exercise pilot to help increase the early diagnosis rate of Dementia in younger people. If you are at all concerned about yourself or a loved one, please download the leaflet below for further information. TRAINING THE NEXT GENERATION OF GPS
The Practice is a committed training practice and as such, also has Specialist Trainee Doctors working at the practice at various stages in their post graduate training schedule. Some are with us for a year, some on a four month rotation. You may be offered an appointment with one of these Specialist Trainee GPs, they are qualified doctors, with full UK General Medical Council registration, and work under the direct supervision of the Practice Trainers, Dr Walkington and Dr Charley.
